Okay... say hello to the cutest town in Texas ya’ll! It is said that Austin is the Portland of the south; and for those of us who’ve been to both cities can agree. Starting with their slogan “Keep Austin Weird” & “Keep Portland Weird” to their hipster bars and unique vibe! Austin has a lot of character and is a very charming town, making this the perfect place to spend my bachelorette weekend at the end of July with my favorite girls! Although my stay in Austin was short, I sure got to see and enjoy a lot of what the city has to offer.
One of my favorite places is rainy street. A very well-known street by locals and tourist full of unique and cute bars. To name a few of the bars I visited and fell in love with include Clive Bar, the Container Room and Javelina. Clive Bar has a great atmosphere & cocktails with its indoor/outdoor seating, lawn games and live music. The Container Room was a game changer for us who are not used to the hot-humid summer weather. Enter their “VIP” fully loaded air-conditioned containers where you can enjoy your cocktails as you cool down and come back to life! And finally, Javelina, a modern Texan bar with yummy cocktails, good ambiance and a shuffle board.
The food is a-ma-zing! La Barbequeis to die for! Their smoky tri-tip and mashed potatoes are too good for words. Paperboyis the best food-truck in Austin, you must try it! Not only is their food delicious, but the staff is amazing; they made us feel at home even though we were sweating our buns off in 105-degree weather- I highly recommend their Texan Hash. Last but not least, Launderettewhich is a gourmet New American fare served in a polish space, in a converted laundromat, where we enjoyed shared plates and tasty cocktails on Saturday night.
Sunday-funday was well spent at the lake! Such a relaxing and fun way to end this trip. After keeping up with Austin’s hot weather and exploring the city on foot, it was so nice to rent a boat for the day and continue the celebration above water! “Keep Austin Wet” is the rental company we went through which I highly recommend. Take me back to this day! We swam, enjoyed paddle boarding, danced to the beat of the song and floated around… such a blast!
Regardless of where you end up in Austin, you won’t be disappointed. What matters is that you get out there and explore the town with your favorite people, eat as much food as you can, dance your booty off and most importantly have fun! Oh and of course… stay hydrated and wear lots of sunblock!
Shout out to my amazing bridesmaids for planning and executing the best bachelorette weekend I could ever had!
